AVG Free - Update was unsuccessful

A particularly useful error message today when attempting to update my "out of date AVG Free virus database". It hadn't updated automatically for some reason, so I investigated.

The particularly un-helpful, "update was unsuccessful" error message was mentioned in a few posts about the place, mostly quite old, and usually to do with manually downloading files, restarted etc.

I was in a hurry this morning so when I stumbled across the "Delete update temporary files" on the advanced tab of the "Settings screen", under the update manager, I thought I'd give it a go. It worked! Try it first if you have this problem.

"Error on Page" displays in IE, bottom right hand corner, when clicking the print button on a Reporting Services report.

Remove the KB956391 windows update. (In Control Panel / Add Remove Programs - you have to click the "Show Updates" check box at the top of the list, in order to see these windows update though.)

If it's a core business function -- do it yourself, no matter what.
