Axosoft recently posted an example of how they've had a play with Google Maps, plotting the location of their clients (or a sub-set) and posting the link in their newsletter. Whi we didn't make the cut down list of clients the bothered to plot, I was interested to note that a site, just two blocks from here (
in Melbourne - you'll need to zoom in a fair way) is using the product as well.

ReplyDeleteThe list of sites we plotted on Google maps was pretty much a random process. Some locations didn't map very well, so we pulled them manually.
But, it's pretty cool that you found a neighbor only a couple of blocks away using OnTime. If the map could have handled a few thousand points without slowing down, I'm sure there would have been many more instances of that in many more locations.
I'm sure we'll revisit it at some point. Maybe the technology will be to the point where we can include a lot more data and still see good performance.
